Friday, August 1

Today is the deadline by which reciprocal tariffs on international trade go into effect. During the week, dozens of nations have worked closely with administration officials to reach trade deals. While President Donald Trump has delayed tariff implementation previously to avoid economic disruption, this week he asserted that the August 1st deadline “will not be extended.”

The president and federal officials are still taking part in trade negotiations with major trade partners, including Canada, Mexico, China, South Korea, Taiwan, India, and Brazil. Countries that have reached an agreement include those in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Indonesia. The final details of those agreements are still being ironed out, and the final trade deals are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God to direct the president and administration officials as they negotiate trade deals.
  • For wisdom for the president as he balances tariffs and trade negotiations with economic growth.
  • For God to guide U.S. officials as they work with global leaders to finalize the details of the trade deals.
